Gene Wiki
The Gene Wiki was initiated during the first phase of FaceBase and contains information on a number of genes known to play a role in craniofacial development, specifically for cleft lip and palate as this phase was focused on midface development. There are Wikipedia pages available for many of these genes thanks for editors from FaceBase 1.
Original description
The FaceBase project will build on Gene Wiki to create a craniofacial- specific presence for genes that play a role in cleft lip and palate. To pilot the use of the Gene Wiki, we’ve taken a small number of genes known to play a role in craniofacial development and begun editing them using volunteer editors from the craniofacial community. The Gene Wiki will also link to related concepts like diseases, physiological structures, and cell types to provide detailed context to the genetic data.
The people listed below agreed to write some initial entries for GeneWiki, but contributions aren’t restricted to them. If you are interested in adding to the entry for one of these genes, please do! If you’d like to suggest a gene to be added to the list, please contact Jeff Murray, University of Iowa.
